GIRL EMPOWERMENT
MHY has sponsored over 50 underserved girls in the Girls on the Run program. Participation in this program promotes physical activity and empowers girls to develop conflict resolution skills, self-confidence, and community engagement.
COLLEGE TOURS
Thanks to our Boys & Girls Club sponsorship, over 30 students have visited more than 10 college campuses. This unique opportunity has allowed participants to experience different academic environments, explore interests, and consider their higher education options.
SUMMER CAMPS
We proudly sponsored students’ participation in 4-H Camp last summer. This program has a long tradition of offering hands-on learning and empowering kids to pursue a passion, enhance their skills, and become leaders in their lives, careers, and communities.
We also sponsored students at the College Orientation Workshop (COW) program at Virginia Military Institute for male minority High School students. The orientation emphasizes self-esteem, work ethic, and a commitment to succeed despite life challenges.
Finally, we provided funds for students to attend the Boys & Girls Club camps throughout Virginia. These camps enabled children to try new activities, make new friends, and build life skills in a fun and safe environment.
EXTRACURRICULARS FOR MILITARY KIDS
Meet Elliott, a newcomer to Cub Scouts and a beneficiary of an MHY grant, which was made possible through our partnership with Our Military Kids partners. We have sponsored multiple grants to support children whose parents are deployed, providing opportunities for enrichment during challenging times.
HELPING KIDS IN FOSTER CARE
In partnership with Friends of Foster Care, we've facilitated students' participation in swim lessons, art workshops, and soccer leagues. This support aims to promote their well-being and enrich their community engagement.
